Garden selected for NYC Compost Project certification program
The compost committee is pleased to announced that the Maple Street Community Garden has been chosen to participate in the NYC Compost Project’s Master Compost Certification Program.
The NYC Compost Project, funded by the NYC Department of Sanitation's Bureau of Recycling and Sustainability, aims to reduce waste and improve soil quality in the city. It has been instrumental in the success and expansion of the MSCG’s compost program and recently helped construct a much needed-three bin system.
“The garden embodies all of the things we like to teach our students,” explained Outreach Coordinator Aaron Lee.
