Community Spotlight: Chelsea Bravo
As the last warm and wondrous weeks of Summer 2025 wind down, this month’s Community Spotlight turns to someone who has infused the Maple Street Community Garden with art, creativity, and a spot of tea: Chelsea Bravo (she/her).
If you’ve stopped by this season, chances are you’ve crossed paths with Chelsea—whether at one of her Arts in the Garden workshops or during the serene Monday Morning Tea Meditation series. Since joining MSCG in September 2024, Chelsea has brought her artistic spirit to the garden and is now stepping up to lead the newly reestablished Arts & Events Committee.
“The Arts in the Garden series, initiated by Zhenia, has been a wonderful way to bring art, creative exploration, and education into the garden in a playful and inviting way. It has given me the opportunity to share my passions and knowledge with the community. The Monday morning tea meditations have been a truly unique and nourishing experience!” Chelsea shared.
And share, she has. This summer alone, Chelsea facilitated an onion-skin tie-dye workshop for the Summer Solstice (proof that vegetables can be sustainable & fashionable!) and most recently, hosted a sold-out weaving workshop. Her Monday Morning Tea Meditations transformed the pergola into a pocket of peace where neighbors gathered to sip, breathe, and watch the garden come alive with bees, blooms, and the gentle rhythm of ritual.
“The garden has enriched my life in many ways this summer—from the abundance of veggies and greens growing, to witnessing the many colorful flowers and the bees buzzing around, and most of all, to hosting the art and tea events I’ve held there this season. It has been truly heartwarming to share space with people in this way, surrounded by the buzz of the garden and the sunshine. Each time I’ve left filled with joy. I’m very grateful to have found, and to be welcomed by, the community at Maple Street!” Chelsea said.
Seasons may change, but the Arts & Events Committee is just heating up under Chelsea’s leadership. Keep an eye on MSCG’s social media for upcoming workshops and gatherings—because if this summer is any indication, you won’t want to miss what’s next.
