Garden on path to becoming official NYC green space

The NYC Parks Department announced the Maple Street Community Garden had successfully completed the Uniform Land Use Review Procedure (ULURP) process, a necessary step towards becoming a green space recognized by the city.

NYC Parks Commissioner Mitchell J. Silver, FAICP, said of the garden: "[It is] an impressive example of the ways in which communities are empowered to come together to beautify and give back to our shared outdoor spaces."

The official acquisition could happen as early as mid-2018.
