Maple Street Garden has entered the 25th Anniversary 'Greenest Block in Brooklyn’ Contest. Help us to win!

You may be asking yourself, now that we’ve entered… what do we do?

FIRST, HELP US GET THE WORD OUT:

  • Share Contest information and gardening tips at your next block or community garden meeting.

  • Post a letter introducing the Contest to your neighbors – we’ve drafted a sample letter here.

  • Check out this tip sheet for more ideas on increasing participation.

  • We have scheduled a clean-up event at the garden on Saturday, June 1st from 10-12pm. We hope you will attend and bring friends.

INVITE NEIGHBORS TO TAKE A FREE GARDENING WORKSHOP. The “How to Green Your Block” workshop at BBG is a great choice. You’ll get to take home some plants to try! Learn more and register atbbg.org/learn/community.

BRUSH UP ON STREET TREE BED CARE. The judges use many criteria, but care of street tree beds is a big one; mistakes can prove deadly for trees. Review BBG’s “Street Tree Bed Care” advice.

ANSWER YOUR NEIGHBOR’S CONTEST QUESTIONS. When in doubt, be in touch, but you can find answers to the most frequently asked questions here.

HAVE FUN! After all, gardening together is a win-win for everybody.

If you’d like to RSVP to help, email maple3garden@gmail.com. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you on June 1st!
