becoming a member

Anyone can become a member through any of the following ways:

  • Emailing maple3garden@gmail.com;

  • Joining through the website via the contact button below; or

  • Mailing a request to join to the attention of Nancy Hoch/Maple Street Community Garden at 167 Maple Street, Brooklyn, NY 11225

Individuals who wish to join as members must:

  • Sign an agreement to abide by the bylaws;

  • Pay an annual membership fee ($20/individual and $30/household)-Sliding scale fee is available upon request;

  • Serve on one or more of the committees; and

  • Attend a minimum of 2 membership meetings per year.

As a member, you will have the opportunity to vote in Board elections and on issues and referendums that are brought up at the general garden meetings (1st Saturday every other month in December, February, April, June, August, and October).

Your contributions will help the garden to keep its committees working efficiently by supplying the funds to purchase tools and equipment, maintain garden and compost beds, and any other needs that come up throughout the year. Annual membership dues are the only regular income the garden receives. Now and then we get a grant, but fairly often we get small donations when gardeners pay for something out of their own pockets and don't charge the garden back. Large donations are always welcome too!!

Please email maple3garden@gmail.com with any questions or concerns.
