Great News! Here are compost drop-off alternatives!

Even though the garden is closed due to Covid-19 and compost is unlikely to reopen anytime soon, here is a list of alternatives in NYC to drop off your food scraps.

  • Wyckoff Farmhouse Museum (about 15 min bike ride from the garden). Here is their google maps link.

  • Astoria Pug - Astoria, Queens.

  • These sites allow you to drop off your food scraps at a designated time and date, either for free or for a small fee.

  • Microhaulers: Microhaulers will pick up your food scraps at your home for a fee. They often rely on no- or low-emission vehicles for transportation, such as bikes.

BK Rot is NYC’s first bike-powered composting service and doubles as an environmental training program for young people of color.
